Silver gelatin papers offer richness of tonality and lustrous finish that is unlike any other photographic medium.
In fine art black and white, the choice of film and paper, combined with darkroom techniques and chemistry, take advantage of the wide range of grey tones and dramatic extremes of dark and light.

Custom black and white enlargements are made with true silver papers. Our prints include dodging and burning and cropping as needed or as specified. Sizing is available. Consultations with a darkroom technician is sometimes available. We print from negatives up to 8 x 10 sheets.

Resin coated papers are available in glossy and pearl surface and in standard and warm tone paper base. We use Ilford/Harmon paper. These papers can be very archival when toned.

Fiber based papers are the ultimate in fine art silver gelatin papers found in museum and gallery exhibitions. This paper is the most archival form of photographic paper and for this reason is also used for historical preservation. Fiber based paper comes in glossy which is air dried for a lustrous finish and matte, which is a deep paper with no sheen. We print exhibition prints and editions and we are happy to discuss your needs.

Photolab has been printing traditional custom black and white for over 30 years.
